After the Purdue Boilermakers Fanatics Branded Authentic Pick-A-Sport T-Shirt in other words I will buy this first year, the name was changed to the Edmonton Oilers (as originally planned) and remained the same in the WHA and after the merger with the NHL. I don’t know everything that’s going on in Edmonton, but it’s always easier to fire a head coach when things get bad. However, perhaps it’s time for someone else to step in and shake things up, so to speak. Just my opinion.
I think the Purdue Boilermakers Fanatics Branded Authentic Pick-A-Sport T-Shirt in other words I will buy this Oilers’ defense is pretty good, but compared to the elite teams competing for the Stanley Cup, IMHO their defense and goaltending are a bit weak. Typically, a Stanley Cup winning team has one, or maybe two, absolute defensive studs — by “studs,” I mean like a Norris Trophy winning team or close to it. Back in the day, when the Oilers had Chris Pronger, you knew everything was under control at the back half of the game. As one reporter said at the time, nothing bad happened during Pronger’s shift unless it happened to the other team. For a more recent example, during this past playoff season, I watched Drew Doughty of the Los Angeles Kings in several games and was very impressed. Even though he was tough on the Oilers, Doughty is still someone you want on your team.
